Meet David Morris.
The Muse Wellbeing Director and Founder.
Hello Muse Wellbeing community members. My name is David Morris, and it’s great to have you teaching PSHE and RSE with the Muse Wellbeing scheme of work.
I grew up in a small rural town called Penistone, near Sheffield, where education was always close to home. Both of my parents worked in schools, as did many of my other close family members, so I grew up with a real appreciation for the role schools play in children’s lives.
I later went on to complete my PGCE in Primary Teaching in 2013 at Manchester Metropolitan University.
I later went on to complete my PGCE in Primary Teaching in 2013 at Manchester Metropolitan University.
Before that, I taught for 2 years in South Korea and then worked as a teaching assistant in mainstream and PRU settings in both Stockport and Manchester. Those experiences had a big impact on me. They helped shape my belief that children need PSHE lessons that feel relevant, supportive and engaging, while also giving teachers the structure and clarity they need to deliver important topics with confidence.
The idea for Muse Wellbeing began in 2019 whilst teaching in Year 6 at a British School based in Thailand. At the time, we wanted to create a modern PSHE and RSE curriculum that felt more connected to children’s real lives. That meant building lessons that supported wellbeing, Relationships and Health Education, safeguarding and digital citizenship in a clear, practical way. I also wanted the resources to feel engaging for pupils, but still straightforward and manageable for busy teachers who often didn't have a lot of preparation time available.
After around three years of planning, writing, testing and refining resources with a small team, Muse Wellbeing was first introduced to schools in 2022. Since then, we have continued to improve the platform, curriculum and learning resources year on year, always trying to make the scheme clearer, more useful and easier for teachers to use.
Today, Muse Wellbeing continues to grow, with more schools joining each week. I now spend much of my time developing the curriculum, improving the platform and creating resources that help schools teach PSHE, RSE and wellbeing with confidence. It’s fantastic to see so many teachers and schools using Muse Wellbeing, and I’m really pleased to have you as part of the community.
Our Vision for PSHE and RSE Education
Looking ahead, our aim for Muse Wellbeing is to keep improving in a clear and focused way. We’ll continue updating the curriculum, refining resources, strengthening the platform and listening carefully to feedback from schools. We also want to build stronger relationships with our community and share more PSHE Spotlights over time. As the world children grow up in continues to change, Muse will keep helping schools give pupils the knowledge, opportunities and confidence to make a positive difference.
